Finished the character model for my rabbit. This is version one. I may redo him later in the summer. Time to clean him up 🙂
So what a lot of people don’t know is how much work goes into making one character. Step 2, after modeling a character is UVing. What this means in a simple way of speaking is taking all of the little squares in a model, sewing them together in a program in a way that the color you place on them will flow seamlessly. This is possibly the most difficult part of creating a character (in my opinion). Usually, modelers cover their mesh with checkered boxes to see how everything flows. Here’s a sneak peak of my project with the turtle I named ‘Boulder.’ [Still have some work to do]
This is another one of my characters that I’m creating for a modeling class. His name is Boulder, he will be accompanying my rabbit in my eventual animation.
Continuing with my progress on the Wreck it Ralph scene. A few things I have to finish up and tweak but so far, so good. This is more of a ‘sink or swim’ project, time to figure out things you were never taught.
This is what it takes to model your own character. Every character takes hundreds of four sided squares until they finally create a creature. Hours of work ahead.
